AFTER SCHOOL CLUB AT THE ART FARM
We are so excited to continue our NEW afterschool programming at The Art Farm NYC! This program is fantastic for grades Pre-k through 5th Grade. The Art Farm NYC Afterschool Program is a unique experience unlike any other after-school program you will find in New York City. Children ages 4 – 10 will get to interact with our live animals every day in our petting zoo, and either participate in arts and crafts, cooking in our kitchen, or continue to learn about our animal collection!
Every day our program will include snack time (snacks can be provided from home or The Art Farm will provide), outdoor play at Asphalt Green PlayGround or indoor games weather dependent. All of our club members will get a chance to go to our petting zoo every day and also have quiet time to work on homework or participate in storytime and reading. While the listed activities above happen daily in the program, please see the focus activity of each day when you register.
All programs are split into age-appropriate groups
- PreK - The Fishies Group
- Kindergarten - 2nd Grade - The Geckos Group
- 3rd - 5th Grade - The Chinchillas Group
Program starts at 3pm and pick-up begins at 5:30 - 6pm.
Students can be dropped off and picked up at The Art Farm or participate in local school pick-up at PS151 (Yorkville Community School).
For any student that wants to participate in local school pick-up to the Art Farm afterschool program from PS 151, the fee is $8 per day, simply use the buttons further down the page to register.

Mondays: Animal Exploration - Fall 2025 Semester

Does your child have a keen interest in the animal world? Young zoologists will have the opportunity to be kind and respectful towards animals and nature in this unique hands-on science program. Students will take an in-depth look at a variety of LIVE animals and learn about their unique characteristics. Experience the wonders of nature through observational drawing, deciphering animal tracks, investigating how animals are classified, exploring how field biologists study animals and using scientific tools to examine animal skulls, eggs, feathers, and x-rays. We will also discover how to be a responsible pet owner and create enrichment toys for some of our favorite animals!
Mondays: Amazing Animal Adaptations - Spring 2026 Semester

Discover how animals are able to survive without the use of gadgets, clothes or tools in this exciting program. Each week we will have up-close encounters with a variety of LIVE animals and examine them from head to tail to figure out how each animal is built for survival. Uncover which animals have the most awesome sneaky strategies such as camouflage and learn which animals can grow some of their body parts back! We will also compare our senses to how animals explore their surroundings and find out which superhero characters are based on the real abilities of some of earth's most unique creatures!
Tuesdays: Art For Creative Kids - Fall 2025 Semester

In this exciting and imaginative art class, children will explore the world of creativity through hands-on art projects inspired by beloved children's storybooks and the wonders of the natural world around us. Each week, students will read a different storybook to inspire their artwork. Who knows - maybe we'll see Pete the Cat or Clifford the Big Red Dog in our masterpieces!

Farm Fresh and Seasonal! Finally, your child can enjoy a cooking class where they learn the basics of cooking and the importance of fresh ingredients as well. Please join our chef in smelling mint, shaping brioche, peeling rhubarb, cutting cookies and tasting new fresh fruits and vegetables. Your kids will embark on a cooking and sensory adventure while developing their taste buds for food fresh from the farm. This program will follow The Art Farm Seasonal Cooking Menu. Enjoy the flavors of the fall.
Thursdays: Explore With Art - Fall 2025 Semester

It’s time to explore with art! In every class, students will experiment with exciting new materials and innovative techniques to express their creativity. From painting with bubble wrap to using toy cars to create unique textures in paint, we’ll dive into fun, hands-on projects that encourage exploration and discovery. By experimenting with different textures, tools, and mediums, everyone will have the chance to create their very own masterpiece while having fun and expanding their artistic skills.

In this unique art class, students will focus on a different famous artist every week. We will explore their techniques and masterpieces before we create our own. Children will be introduced to different mediums such as acrylic paint, watercolors, chalk, and more! We will introduce and review the process of the famous artist we are focusing on as we encourage the children to create their own pieces of art.
Fridays: Animal Superstars - Fall 2025 Semester

If the Olympics were held for animals, what would the events be? In this exciting hands-on exploration of the animal kingdom, we will be introduced to some LIVE animal athletes from around the world and figure out if they would win a gold medal! We will examine the body parts of amazing swimmers, jumpers, climbers and diggers then investigate how these awesome adaptations help animals survive in their specific habitats. Discover which creatures might not be the fastest, slowest, tallest, or smallest but are some of the most important animals on earth. As we discover the unique features of the most amazing animal champions of the world, we will take that knowledge and design our own award-winning Animal Athletes!
Fridays: Working With Wildlife - Spring 2026 Semester

Does your child adore animals? Do they dream about becoming a zookeeper or veterinarian when they grow up? If so, then this program will give them the opportunity to explore several jobs which focus on being around animals everyday! Activities will include: listening to bird calls, designing zoo exhibits, examining x-rays of animal broken bones and practicing science observation skills while learning how to be a field biologist. We will meet LIVE animals every week and discuss how we can make sure that animals stay happy and healthy whether they are in the wild, in a zoo, on a farm or in our home as a pet!
