Art Farm Preschool Kindergarten Exmissions Process
At The Art Farm Preschool, we are committed to providing individualized support and guidance as families navigate the transition from preschool to their next educational setting. We know that New York City offers an abundance of wonderful schools, both public and independent, and while this variety is an incredible asset, we understand that it can also feel overwhelming. Our goal is to help you turn those feelings of being overwhelmed into excitement as you explore all of the amazing options available. We are confident that the perfect fit for your family is out there, and we are committed to helping you find it.
Timeline:
The exmissions process begins in the winter of your child’s three year old year. This allows ample time to explore both public and independent school options and to gather the necessary information to make an informed decision.
Initial Meeting
In the late winter/early spring we host an informational meeting for all families to attend. During this meeting, we provide an overview of the kindergarten application process. This meeting covers key topics such as public school options, independent school options and applications, school visits, parent interviews, and understanding the school report process for admission. We also invite experienced parents to share their own stories and insight.
Individualized Support
Following the general meeting, each family will have a one-on-one meeting with the Head of School and the Admissions Director. Together, we will discuss your child’s unique qualities and learning style, as well as your family’s goals and priorities for the next school. Based on this conversation, we will work together to create a list of potential schools that would be a good match for your child.
We are deeply involved throughout the entire process and we will continue to meet individually with families, offering updates and providing support as necessary. We are always available for questions, whether by email, phone, or scheduled meetings.
School Reports
Our experienced teachers observe each child closely throughout their time at The Art Farm. Based on these observations, teachers will write detailed school reports, which will be signed and reviewed by our head of school and admissions director. These reports will be shared with the schools you are applying to, helping to provide a clear picture of your child’s strengths and development.
Public School Report
For families considering public schools, we will provide guidance on the application process, including gifted and talented options and local public school choices. We also assist with scheduling school visits and provide resources for understanding New York City's public school system.
Final Decision
When the time comes to make a final decision, we are here to help weigh the options and ensure that your family feels supported and confident in choosing the right school for your child.
