We are excited to invite families to become a Classroom Parent for the current school year! Classroom Parents play an important role in building a strong sense of community and connection between teachers, families, and the school.
What is a Classroom Parent?
Classroom Parents serve as the official liaisons between teachers and families. They help coordinate class activities, support communication, and foster a welcoming environment for all. While responsibilities may vary depending on the class, all Classroom Parents share a passion for pitching in, strong communication skills, and a desire to support our community in a hands-on way.
Responsibilities May Include:

- Supporting Communication
Send a welcome message to families, set up a group email, and serve as a communication bridge between teachers and parents. Gather and share family talents and interests for classroom enrichment. - Planning Events
Help organize class celebrations, holiday parties, cultural events, and school-wide activities. Collaborate with other Classroom Parents and teachers to ensure inclusive and engaging experiences. - Community Engagement
Assist in organizing outreach efforts like food or toy drives, and help foster opportunities for families to connect outside of school (e.g., park picnics, social gatherings, family-friendly events). - Supporting the Classroom
Help collect needed supplies, organize volunteers for field trips or projects, and assist during class events (setup and cleanup). - Welcoming New Families
Reach out to new students and families, answer questions, and help them feel connected to The Art Farm community. - Staff Appreciation
Coordinate efforts to celebrate and thank teachers through thoughtful, inclusive gestures such as birthday surprises, holiday gifts, or Teacher Appreciation Week activities—always with a “give what you can” approach to ensure equity. - Community Representation
Represent your class at Open Houses or Admissions events to help welcome incoming families and share your experience.
You don’t have to do it all alone—many classes have two Classroom Parents, and there are always other parents eager to help.
