The Art Farm Preschool For Four-Year-Olds

Our preschool program for 4-year-olds prepares children for Kindergarten by nurturing independence, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. As the final year before elementary school, the 4’s program builds upon everything they’ve learned in the earlier years while introducing more advanced social and academic skills. Children step into leadership roles in the classroom and continue to grow as confident, capable learners.

The curriculum, guided by the New York State Prekindergarten Standards, blends academic readiness with imaginative exploration. With a strong focus on preparing children for Kindergarten, we introduce key concepts in early literacy, phonics, writing, number sense, and problem-solving. Children also explore science, social studies, art, and music through hands-on activities and inquiry-based learning. These experiences help develop critical thinking, communication skills, and a love for learning that supports a smooth transition to elementary school.

In the mornings, 4’s join the 3’s in shared activities such as circle time, outdoor play, and animal science—giving them opportunities to lead by example and build confidence. In the afternoons, the classroom becomes a dedicated space for focused academic and project-based learning tailored to their developmental stage. With support from co-teachers, children continue to explore, question, and grow—gaining the foundational skills and independence needed to thrive in Kindergarten and beyond.
